Project Nigeria

Timeline

Nigeria’s youthful population, with over 60% under the age of 25, presents an opportunity to harness creativity and innovation for national development. Despite the country’s rich natural and cultural heritage, negative perceptions persist, impacting national pride and economic potential in tourism and the creative sector. Additionally, youth unemployment and outward migration for better opportunities are challenges. Project Nigeria seeks to address these issues by engaging young Nigerians through smartphone photography, showcasing the nation’s beauty, fostering patriotism, and promoting economic empowerment through tourism and creative industries.

Selected participants will gain admission to the Project Nigeria Smartphone Academy, where they will receive training from leading experts and practitioners in photography, arts, and culture. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will earn certification and undertake an independent smartphone photography project. The top projects will be featured in the Project Nigeria Compendium, and the winning entries will be recognized and awarded at the Ambassador Walter Carrington Annual Symposium in December 2024.
